In the later part of May 2014, we completed the sampling campaign at LaRonde (Agnico Eagle). Jean–Sebastien Labonte, Alexandre Morasse (LaRonde), in co-operation with Caroline Olsen and Benoit Levasseur (COREM) and me organized the campaign which went very smoothly. I would like to personally thank Alexandre and his wonderful staff members for the excellent job they did organizing the sampling days and providing a significant amount of assistance in preparing and collecting the samples. I would also like to thank Benoit, Vincent Gagne and Eric Proulx for the on site sample analyses and, along with Alexandre, providing valuable discussion regarding the recovery process at LaRonde. Once again the team performed another great job! I was accompanied by Kyle Douglas a graduate student on the project who had an opportunity to participate in the planning and sample collection.
A total of 22 samples during the plant audit were collected: 4 from the grinding region of the circuit, 6 samples from the conditioning region of the circuit; 12 samples from the rougher, cleaner and scavenger portion of the circuits; 5 samples from the cyanidation circuit. The samples are currently at SSW and COREM and we have begun the analytical process.
From a discussion with the mill personal there are two areas of focus: improvement in Cu recovery and mechanisms potentially inhibiting leaching of Au.
